Indonesia is an archipelago country in which there are a variety of diverse ethnicities and cultures. This diversity due to geographical location, ethnicity, religion, educational background, different needs and mindset and a different outlook on life. Various shades of the culture of the Indonesian nation is a society that has cultural diversity. Issues to be examined are: (1) What forms Ngasa tradition in the village Gandoang? (2) What is the meaning and benefits of Ngasa tradition in the village Gandoang? (3) What is the role of ordinary villagers in the Tradition Ngasa Gandoang ?. This study uses historical research, which includes four stages: heuristics, criticism of sources, interpretation, and historiography. The technique of collecting data using interviews, document studies, and literature.

The benefits of this research are: the results of this study are expected to increase our knowledge of the history TRADITION IN THE VILLAGE GANDOANG NGASA SALEM DISTRICT BREBES YEAR 1991-2000. In order to memeberikan input to the government and readers to provide support, marketing and human resource development. In order to enrich the writing of history, especially the history of batik. In addition to the results of this study indicate that in the village Gandoang ngasa tradition is a tradition passed down from generation to generation.

The results of this study indicate that ngasa tradition began to flourish in 1991, then in 1996 became more growing very rapidly and is followed by a community outside the city and Brebes Brebes. Ceremony Ngasa is a tradition in the village Gandoang conducted hereditary it is not independent of the acculturation of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism were bequeathed by the ancestors which is the celebration of the community against the Almighty for all the gifts of grace Taufik, and hidayahnya with the charity that comes from the environment itself. Besides, it is also intended to seek blessings for the efforts that will be implemented in subsequent years. This tradition is usually held once a year, and carried out on certain days such as Tuesday and Friday kliwon kliwon, at Kasanga prey. Ngasa traditional ceremonies as a symbol is a sign of gratitude to God Almighty for all the blessings that have been bestowed. Pantei there are like in the area of ​​the sea alms, in the middle of no alms earth, and on the mountain is a mountain alms (interview Mr. Sunaryo).

Cooperative Learning is a lerning models that help the students to grouped their self into small gropups to help each other solving the problems in the learning process. Numbered Heads Together is one of the implementation of this learning model. The achievment of history subject in class XI social science is poor and it showed by the low average of history mark of this class. It is caused by : (1) convensional learning model, talkative. (2) the uncomfortable leraning condition, (3) the low students participasion in learning process, and (4) teachercentrism concept. To improve the history learning achievment in XI social science 2 it is need variative learning models. One of them is cooperative learning with numbered heads together. The main purpose of this research is to know is there any improvement of history subject achievement by the using numbered heads together ?

This research is a class act (class action research) that consisting of two cyclus that have passed precyclus phase. Each cyclus consisting of four stpes, that are planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data that acquired in this resarch consisting of learning result that taken at the end of each cyclus by examination, teacher’s work in the learning process and students’s activities. This research can be said succes if the result of class average in history learning achievemnet reachs ≥ 75 with the passing level approximatelly ≥ 75%. The sample in this research is the students of XI social science 2 Slawi Senior High School 2 at academic year 2015/2016.

The result of this reserach shows that the using of cooperatif learning model type NHT in the history learning process can improve the studying achievement. It is showed by the increasing of class achievement average and classical passing level. The result of precyclus shows that class average is 67,9 and passing level is 57,1%. Cyclus I shows that class average is 72,1 and passing level is 65,7%. Cyclus II reachs 80,8 in the class averages and the passing level ≥ 75%  that is 82,8%.

The conclusion of this research is the using of of cooperatif learning type NHT can improve the studying achievement in history subject. As advice for the teacher is variative lerning methode must be aplicated to solve the bore situasion in the learning process and improve the studying achievement. And for the students must have the good self believness in the learning process for history subject also for other subjects.
